Time for another interesting website. Continuing our series on websites from Musicovery, Million dollar homepage and a website which my friends and yours truly designed eLitWit, here is a start-up of my friends.

Foodiebay.com provides convenience. It started about a two years back when the founder needed to eat food and could not find the menu (yes mess food sucks we all know that!!). This turned out to become an idea which has created waves today in the Indian startups scene, at least in the NCR region! The website provides a dearth of menus and restaurant contacts primarily in the NCR region of India all at a click, they also offer free coupons for registered users of the site and have recently started newletter & monthly ratings of restaurants.

What you see above is a snapshot of Foodiebay’s homepage. Simple and easy to navigate, you just have to select your geographical location (e.g. Gurgaon, DLF Phase II), type in any keywords if you are searching specifically for say Dominos or just ask for all the eating joints in your locality. You play around with the generated result by sorting it whichever way you want and applying filters. I won’t go deeper into that ‘cuz it is pretty easy to do… and if you reside in NCR you should definitely try it out!

Deepinder Goyal heads foodieay.com and is an office colleague and so is Pankaj Chaddah who is heading marketing. From far away, Pankaj Chaddah looks like a small, fair, guy who would just spend time sleeping unenthusiastically and as you zoom in you will still find him to be the same (Sorry Pankaj lena toh banta hai tera!!). But he has steered the almost zero-cost marketing with tremendous force despite such having such hurdles in his way. You can see the results! Foodiebay has appeared on HT main paper (Page 3) and has been ranked as one of the top 25 hottest websites in India. And they are expanding too! They recently moved into Kolkata.
